Track & Field Visits Liberty for Darius Dixon Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary track & field will compete in its final indoor meet of the regular season this weekend as it heads to Lynchburg, Va. for the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational. Running events begin at 1:40 p.m. on Friday at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex, with field events starting at 2 p.m. The action resumes on Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m.

Portions of the meet will be streamed on ESPN+. Live results will be provided courtesy of Blue Ridge Timing.

LAST TIME OUT
Amelia Bawcombe and Uriah Harris both set new freshman records in the weight throw to lead William & Mary track and field at the Penn Classic. The Tribe broke several new top-10 performances during the action.

W&M also sent select athletes to the Vince Brown Invitational at Christopher Newport, capturing six event victories. The afternoon was highlighted by the second best all-time performance from Elizabeth Strobach in the pole vault.

NEWS AND NOTES
- Harris has the top shot put in the CAA this season with his throw of 17.97m (58' 11.5") at the Penn State National Open. The freshman is also second in the weight throw (18.53m/60' 9.5")

- Strobach leads the CAA in the pole vault and ranks 14th in the NCAA Division I Southeast Region with a top vault of 4.10m (13' 5.25").

- Strobach is one of three Tribe women in the top-five of the CAA in the pole vault, along with Kalli Knott (3.96m/12' 11.75") and Raina Fitzwater (3.79m/12' 5.25").

- On the men's side, Leighton McGee also has the conference's top pole vault at 4.90m (16' 0.75").

- Charlie Bestic has the second-fastest time in Division I in the 500m with an adjusted time of 1:02.40.

- The Tribe holds both of the top 5000m times in the conference, with Hayes Trapp leading the men at 13:59.90 and Perry Irons atop the women's leaderboard at 16:05.27.

- In the heptathlon, Brian Walsh leads the league with his school-record 5208-point performance recorded at the Liberty Kickoff in December.

- Freshman Madilyn Lewis posted a time of 1:38.97 in the 600m at Penn State, tying for ninth all-time in program history.

- Finn Middleton ran the first sub-8.00 60m hurdles time in program history at Penn State with a school-record time of 7.94.

- Middleton also added to his impressive freshman résumé at the Vince Brown Invitational, recording the fifth-best time in program history in the prelims of the 60m dash with a time of 7.07.

There are 32 competing teams, including American, Campbell, Charleston (W.Va.), Charlotte, Eastern Mennonite, Elon, ETSU, George Mason, James Madison, Liberty, Longwood, Lynchburg, Marshall, Morgan State, Navy, North Carolina, NC State, North Dakota State, Queens, Radford, Richmond, Shippensburg, Southern Virginia, Towson, UMBC, UNC Asheville, UNCW, VCU, Virginia, Wake Forest, Western Carolina and William & Mary.

The ESPN+ broadcast will take place from 5:30-9 p.m. Friday and from 12-4 p.m. on Saturday.
