Program Records Highlight Day for Track and Field at Duke Twilight

DURHAM, N.C.—Three William & Mary women's track and field athletes set new program records on Sunday as the Tribe competed at the Duke Twilight in Durham, N.C.
 
Lauren Jones earned a runner-up finish with a record-breaking performance in the long jump. Jones posted a mark of 6.04m on her fifth attempt, shattering the old record of 5.92m by Megan Heidebrecht in 2022.
 
Elizabeth Strobach became the first W&M women's athlete to clear 4.01m in the pole vault. Strobach posted 4.09m on her second try, earning a fourth-place finish in the process, ranking her 47th in the DI East Region. Nicole Kazuba held the previous record of 4.01m since 2009.
 
Freshman Avery Glidden broke her old program record in the 400m hurdles on Sunday, finishing in sixth. Glidden crossed the line in 1:00.15 to set her new record mark.
 
Austin Rice was a bright spot for the Tribe men's athletes on the day, finishing sixth in the 400m. His time of 47.54 is the fourth best all-time at W&M.
 
The men's field events also saw Armon Wright have success. Wright finished seventh in the triple jump, leaping 14.41m, while also coming in 10th in the long jump with a mark of 6.73m.
 
Emily Ervin was top-10 in the 400m on Sunday, crossing the line seventh with a time of 54.74. The time was a new best for Ervin and ranks fourth in W&M history.
 
Ross Bazzichi also posted a new personal best in the hammer throw with a mark of 57.67m.
 
The Duke Twilight ended the regular season for the Tribe. W&M will head to the CAA Championships in Greensboro, N.C on May 14-15.
