3/1/2025 10:25:00 PM

HAMPTON, Va. — The William & Mary women's swimming team finished as runner-up at the CAA Swimming Championships on Saturday, securing individual championships in three events to give them a total of eight for the meet. The Tribe had 17 total podium finishers, capped off by the first-place finish for the women's 400 freestyle relay team.

In addition, head coach Nate Kellogg was named the CAA Women's Swimming Coach of the Year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tribe's first medal came in the women's 100 freestyle when Flynn Truskett won the event with a time of 49.65. Truskett set a new personal record and posted the fourth-fastest time in school history. Caroline Burgeson placed fifth at 50.07.

Sophia Heilen then took home gold in the women's 200 breaststroke, timing out at 2:10.96 for a school record. She beat the previous record set by teammate Ellie Scherer at last year's CAA Championships by over two seconds.

Scherer herself finished in fourth place at 2:13.73.

The Tribe also won the women's 400 free relay on the backs of Flynn Truskett, Ellie Hunt, Sarah Dunham, and Burgeson, clocking in at 3:20.06. That stands as the second-best time in program history.

Elsewhere, Lauren Tucker had a strong showing in the women's 1650 freestyle with a time of 16:56.86, good for fifth place. On the men's side, Jackson Esteves placed fourth with a time of 15:39.76.

Aiden Bond came in fourth in the men's 100 free, clocking in at 43.66. Competing in the women's 200 butterfly, Lauren Klinefelter posted a time of 2:01.89 to finish fourth.
