Swimming Concludes Three-Day Cavalier Invite

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The William & Mary swimming teams wrapped up the three-day Cavalier Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Aquatic & Fitness Center in Charlottesville.

The meet featured a preliminaries/finals format where swimmers competed as individuals in an attempt to improve seed time and hit qualifying standards before the postseason. There were no team scores for the meet.

Alexis Bonfield had a productive weekend for the Tribe. The senior finished ninth in the 200 backstroke with a finals time of 2:02.90, improving upon her prelim time of 2:04.57. She also swam the finals of the 100 backstroke in 57.94.

Healey Morgan also contributed on the women's side, placing 17th in the 50 freestyle (24.26) in a field of 31 competitors. In the 200 freestyle, her finals time of 1:51.57 marked a personal record by approximately one second.

On the men's side, Noah Spain had a pair of PR's in the 50 breaststroke (26.93) and 100 breaststroke (57.62). He also placed third in the 200 breaststroke, clocking in at 2:04.01.

UP NEXT
W&M will have an 18-day hiatus before the CAA Championships on Feb. 26. The four-day meet will take place at the nearby Hampton Aquaplex.
