Cunningham Leads Track & Field at Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The William & Mary track and field teams scored a pair of top-10's at the Navy Select on Friday afternoon in the final indoor meet of the regular season.

SPRINTS
Melissa Cunningham had the top performance of the day, posting the second-fastest time ever in the women's 60m with a time of 7.67.

In addition to scoring a new personal record, Cunningham also tied teammate Lauren Jones for the second-fastest individual mark ever, which Jones had set two weeks ago at the East Coast Invite.

DISTANCES
In the women's 800m, Perry Irons put together a top-10 performance with a time of 2:14.33. She finished third in the event.

In the women's 1000m, Jennifer Tsai came in fifth clocking in at 2:56.08. The Tribe women also had two top-seven finishers in the 400m between freshman Leah Gould (1:00.65) and Evelyn Brantley (1:01.22), the latter winning her heat.

Freshman Abby Lane came in fourth in the women's mile, crossing the line in 5:05.69. In the men's 3000m, Joseph Taylor placed fourth with his time of 8:39.12.

HURDLES
Elizabeth Dupras had the best result for the Tribe women in the 60m hurdles, timing out at 9.59 and winning her heat. 

THROWS
Competing in the women's weight throw, Talia Anderson posted a mark of 51'1.5" (15.58m) to finish fifth. Though it was not a PR, the performance was bested by only seven other individuals in program history.

JUMPS
Kerrigan Kimener competed in the women's pole vault, placing third with a clearance of 12'1.5" (3.70m).

UP NEXT
W&M will begin prep for the CAA Championships starting on Wednesday, Feb. 26. The meet will take place over two days at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
