UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – William & Mary track & field generated a quartet of top 10 marks in school history competing in the Penn State National Open at the Ashenfelter Indoor Track.
Senior sprinter
Melissa Cunningham tallied a pair of top times. She ran a career-best 24.76 in winning her heat and finishing seventh overall in the 200m. Cunningham's time ranks fourth on the Tribe's career list. She posted the sixth-best all-time performance in 60m as well, crossing the line in 7.70 during the prelims on Friday. Cunningham owns four of the top six performances in W&M history in the event.
Senior
Kyra Holland finished eighth in the 3000m in a time of 9:26.69. The mark ranks seventh on the program's all-time list.
In the pole vault, graduate student
Olesya Sitkowski and sophomore
Elizabeth Strobach posted marks of 3.90m (12-9.5). Sitkowski cleared the mark earlier in attempts and finished fifth followed by Strobach in seventh. The height tied Strobach's career mark, which also ranks fifth in school history. Sitkowski was just half an inch shy of her career-best vault.
Competing for the first time during the indoor season, freshman
Molly Weithman finished sixth in the 5000m, crossing the line in 17:26.52.
Sophomore
Katriel Amoyaw garnered a pair of top 10 finishes at the National Open. She posted a 5.72m (18-9.25) distance to take seventh in the long jump and tallied a 1.60m (5-3) height to finish ninth in the high jump.
On the men's side, the Tribe's Distance Medley Relay took fourth in a time of 10:02.19. Freshman
Caleb Wilcox, sophomore
David Seekford, freshman
Collin Walsh, and sophomore
Henry Anderson posted the mark.
Seekford placed 13th in the 400m, just missing his career-best by 0.06 seconds with at time of 48.85.
