WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – With the addition of
Caleb Lang as hitting coach and recruiting coordinator, William & Mary baseball head coach
Rob McCoy announced the completion of his coaching staff. A veteran college coach, Lang has helped develop highly productive offenses over the course of his career.
"We are excited to add Coach Lang to our staff. He is a proven winner and developer of hitters," McCoy said. "His success as a tenacious recruiter and an offensive development coach will well complement our already talented staff. He is a first-class human and will embody our T.R.I.B.E. core values day in and day out."
Lang joins the Tribe from Clarion, where he served as head coach in 2024, coaching a pair of all-conference first team selections and leading the Golden Eagles to the most conference victories since the 2021 season.
Prior to Clarion, Lang spent three seasons at Concordia (Neb.) from 2021-23, working primarily with the team's hitters. Lang's first season at Concordia saw the program break a school record for single season victories (42) while reaching the NAIA World Series for the first time ever. In 2022, the Bulldogs repeated as Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) tournament champions and came within one win of a return trip to the World Series.
Over his three seasons, Concordia position players accounted for 14 first-team All-GPAC selections, including seven in 2023. Among many standout players, Lang coached Joey Grabinski to the 2023 GPAC Player of the Year honor and Jayden Adams was named an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American under his leadership. In total, Lang's hitters accounted for 19 selections to all-conference first and second teams and five honorable mentions in his time with the Bulldogs.
Lang led a record-breaking offense in each of his three seasons, raising the single season home run (117) and runs scored records (581) every year, while twice setting new marks in hits (669) and posting a program-high .357 batting average with a record 98 stolen bases.
Prior to that, Lang spent a season as an assistant coach with Division II Flagler College, and he also spent two years as a graduate assistant coach at Eastern Nazarene College.
Lang's broad experience extends to collegiate summer leagues, having served on multiple staffs in the New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL) and Northwoods League since 2018. His teams have earned three league titles and set offensive records, and he coached nine MLB draft picks in the Northwoods League, eight of them going in the first 10 rounds.
Lang played his college baseball at NCAA Division III Cairn University in Langhorne, Penn. He earned numerous honors while being named a two-time DIII All-American, the New York Collegiate Baseball League Player of the Year and a three-time first team National Christian College Athletic Association All-American. He was also recognized with the Hank Burbridge Unlimited Potential Award.
