Caleb Lang joined William & Mary baseball as hitting coach and recruiting coordinator in August 2024.
Lang comes to the Tribe from Clarion, where he served as head coach in 2024, coaching a pair of all-conference first team selections and leading the Golden Eagles to the most conference victories since the 2021 season.
Prior to Clarion, Lang spent three seasons at Concordia (Neb.) from 2020-22, working primarily with the team’s hitters. Lang's first season at Concordia saw the program break a school record for wins in a season (42) while reaching the NAIA World Series for the first time ever. Offensively, the Bulldogs broke single season school records for home runs (90), runs scored (468) and hits (599). Four Concordia position players were named first team all-conference: Jayden Adams, Keaton Candor, Beau Dorman and Joey Grabanski. The 90 home runs shattered the previous school record of 40 homers in a season by the 2016 team.
The offense elevated to an even higher level in 2022 as the Bulldogs repeated as GPAC tournament champions and came within one win of a return trip to the World Series. The '22 squad belted 113 home runs and tallied 516 runs while again setting new school standards. Jaidan Quinn became the program's new single-season home run king (19) at the time while Jayden Adams was named an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American. The '23 team raised the bar even higher, setting new school standards for runs scored (581), hits (669), home runs (117), batting average (.357) and stolen bases (98).
Seven position players were named 2023 First Team All-GPAC honorees, led by GPAC Player of the Year Joey Grabanski. Both Grabanski and Quinn homered 27 times in 2023 in record-setting efforts. In Lang's three seasons as hitting coach, Concordia belted a combined 320 home runs
Prior to that, Lang spent a season as an assistant coach with Division II Flagler College, and he also spent two years as a graduate assistant coach at Eastern Nazarene College.
Lang has had extensive experience coaching in collegiate summer leagues as well. In 2023 he served as the head coach of the Rochester Ridgemen in the New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL), leading them to a league championship. In 2022 he helmed the Battle Creek Battle Jacks of the Northwoods League to the most runs scored in team history, and from 2019-20 he served as an assistant coach with the Traverse City Pit Spitters when they won a pair of league titles. During his time in the Northwoods league Lang coached nine MLB draft picks: Spencer Schwellenbach (Braves - 2nd RD), Luke Little (Cubs - 4th RD), Chad Patrick (Diamondbacks - 4th RD), Will Mabrey (Diamondbacks - 6th RD), Mario Camilletti (White Sox - 8th RD), Kyle Jones (Twins - 7th RD), Andrew Hoffman (Braves - 12th RD), Zach Fruit (Orioles - 9th RD), Braxton Bragg (Orioles - 8th RD).
He also served as head coach of the Niagara Power in the NYCBL in 2017-18, leading them to a playoff appearance.
Lang played his college baseball at NCAA Division III Cairn University in Langhorne, Penn. He earned numerous honors while being named a two-time DIII All-American, the New York Collegiate Baseball League Player of the Year and a three-time first team National Christian College Athletic Association All-American. He was also recognized with the Hank Burbridge Unlimited Potential Award.
The former Highlanders star earned his undergraduate degrees in Business Administration and Biblical Studies. He received his master’s in management from Eastern Nazarene.
In spreading his love for the game of baseball, Lang has spent time as a Miracle League volunteer, which entailed playing baseball with adults and children with physical and mental disabilities. Lang also lived in the Dominican Republic for eight weeks, during which he taught baseball and provided meals to those in need.
