Jayden Moon Named a CAA Institutional Female Scholar-Athlete Award Winner

RICHMOND, Va. – William & Mary field hockey senior Jayden Moon was named a 2023-24 CAA Institutional Female Scholar-Athlete Award winner presented by Primis, the league announced on Wednesday.
 
Moon was one of 14 women's student-athletes honored by the league as a finalist for the student-athlete of the year award. UNCW's softball player Tayler Vitola was named the 2023-24 CAA Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Joining Moon as a finalist were Campbell's Sanna Lundmark (golf), Charleston's Rhian Purves (cross country), Delaware's Savannah Seemans (volleyball), Drexel's Eline DiLeva (field hockey), Elon's Leandra Lorenz (track & field), Hampton's Victoria Caldwell (track & field), Hofstra's Taylor Mennella (lacrosse), Monmouth's Rachel Ludwick (soccer), North Carolina A&T's Maleia Bracone (basketball), Northeastern's Dominique Biron (track & field), Stony Brook's Clare Levy (lacrosse), and Towson's Demi Pierre (soccer). Each of the 14 nominees for the CAA Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year presented by Primis will be recognized with a crystal award.
 
Moon was an All-CAA First Team selection this season as a starting midfielder and captain for the Tribe. She started all 21 matches in helping the Tribe to its second CAA Championship. Moon finished with two goals and six assists during her senior season and led the Tribe to its second NCAA Tournament victory, knocking off Sacred Heart in the opening round. Moon also added NFHCA All-South Region Second Team accolades.
 
The Spotsylvania, Va., native  was selected to the U21 National Team in 2023 and served as a reserve for the Junior Pan American Championship and the Junior World Cup teams. She was also selected to play in the Senior Nexus Championship in the summer 2022 and the summer 2023.
 
A biology major,  Moon is a four-time NFHCA All-Academic Squad selection, a four-year W&M Provost Award winner, and was named to the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll during each semester on campus. Following the 2022-23 season, Moon earned the Martha Barksdale Award as a rising senior with a GPA higher than 3.25 and proving to be an outstanding student and teammate.
 
In the community, Moon has volunteered for the Jonathan Allen's Marine Research Lab and Paradoc's Animal Hospital. She also interned with Ethos Veterinary Health over the last year. Moon intends to attend to graduate school in veterinary medicine or get her master's degree in animal science.
