RICHMOND, Va.—The William & Mary track and field programs made the short trip to Richmond on Friday and returned home with 23 top-five finishes and five event wins at the Fred Hardy Invitational.
 
Ross Bazzichi got the day off to a solid start for the Tribe posting a runner-up finish in the day's opening event, the men's hammer throw, posting 48.42m. That set the stage for Keeley Suzenski in the women's hammer throw. The senior put up a mark of 58.99m, a personal best, good for an event win and 16^th best in program history. She also set meet and facility in record in the process.
 
Suzenski is the second-best performer in the event in program history just behind Leia Mistowski's mark of 62.89m.
 
Jason Nwosu kept up his strong start to the outdoor season, grabbing victory in the men's shot put after a throw of 15.70m. Nwosu, the reigning CAA Field Athlete of the Week, also was runner up by a narrow margin in the discus throw.
 
Sam Pritchard earned W&M their first win of the day on the track with a time of 1:53.96 in the men's 800m shortly after Austin Rice and Jacob Robinson finished second and third in the 400m. The duo finished with times of 48.49 and 48.55 respectively.
 
Megan Heidebrecht once again posted a strong number in the high jump, earning a win with a 5.74 mark. She now owns six of the top 11 performances in program history for the event. She was joined in the winner's circle by Elizabeth Upright, who edged out teammate Elizabeth Strobach in the pole vault.
 
Both Upright and Strobach posted marks of 3.80m, but Upright was victorious by clearing on her second attempt while it took Strobach three tries.
 
Evelyn Brantley was runner-up for the Tribe in the 400m hurdles with teammate Clare Howard not far behind in fourth place. Brantley crossed the line in 1:04.76 while Howard clocked in at 1:05.44.
 
David Seekford also was runner-up in the 400m hurdles on the men's side for W&M with a time of 54.74. The showing places Seekman tied for 11^th in performers for the event in program history.
 
Another duo who came through for the Tribe on Friday was Luke Ellwood and Wyatt Townsend in the 5000m. The pair finished first and second respectively in the event with times of 14:55.88 and 15:00.73.

W&M is back in action next weekend at the Raleigh Relays.
