2009 Men's Cross Country Team
Kurz will be formally inducted, alongside the five other former student-athletes and the 2009 Men's Cross Country Team on Friday, Sept. 20, 2024. More details and registration information will follow.
Beyond the All-American honors, Kurtz's skills were further recognized as she was named to the U.S. Reserve National team in 1984, before being named to the U.S. National team each of the next three years and cementing her status as one of the country's premier players.
Selected as the W&M Senior Female Athlete of the Year in 1986, Kurtz collected 220 ground balls over her four-year career, which is still the school record.
Kurtz was a key contributor in helping the Tribe win back-to-back state titles in 1983 and 1984 and make the NCAA Championships field in 1983.
Also a standout on the hockey field, Kurtz earned All-South Region and South Atlantic honors in 1984 and 1985. She was named to the SAC All-Tournament team after both the 1984 and '85 post-seasons.
Kurtz, primarily a defender in hockey, totaled one goal, seven assists, and three defensive saves in 52 games over three seasons.
