HAMPTON, VA.- The William & Mary women's swim team began their title defense in fashion Wednesday afternoon breaking the school and CAA record in the 200 medley relay. The Tribe men posted their best time in the event since 2020.
200 Medley Relay- The quartet of
Kat Vanbourgondien,
Ellie Scherer,
Sophia Heilen, and
Katie Stevenson cut over 4.50 seconds off their entry time to swim a blistering 1:38.53 setting the new conference mark. The Tribe men finished fifth as
Cole Younger,
Brock Rempe,
Kent Codding, and
Alex Valliere posted a time of 1:27.56 to cut over two seconds off their seeded time, and the fifth best time in program history.
800 Free Relay- The Tribe women's team of Stevenson,
Devin Genderson,
Grace Tramack, and
Elizabeth Intihar finished third in the 800 free relay with a time of 7:15.53, 5.71 seconds off their entry time. Stevenson's lead off time of 1:46.42 was a school record. On the men's end, the Green and Gold placed fifth with a time of 6:39.07.
Will Glass, Eugino Massari,
Rhett Cosgrove, and
Conor Sokolowsky produced the 11th best time in school history.
Up Next- Day two of the CAA Championships will feature the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free, and the 400 medley relay tomorrow. Prelims will begin at 10:00 a.m. and finals will start at 6:00 p.m.
