WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary men's and women's swim teams kick off their respective 2023-24 seasons at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, at Johns Hopkins. Fifth year head coach
Nate Kellogg returns at the helm of both the Tribe men's and women's teams as they begin action.

SCOUTING THE TRIBE MEN
Among the 18 returners which make up the Tribe men's roster, graduate student
Conor Sokolowsky readies for his fifth season with W&M as one of the team's most productive performers over the past four seasons. Sokolowsky has 13 career podium finishes and has appeared in the CAA finals in 10 events. He finished fourth in the 200 IM and 200 back, and seventh in the 400 IM in last season's CAA Championships.
Also among the returners is senior
Kent Codding, who earned a spot in the 200 back A Final with a time of 1:46.44. Returning senior
Gavin Lamoureux clinched an A Final spot in the 200 fly, shaving 3.25 seconds from his seeded time in last season's CAA Championship, and senior
Cole Younger won the B Final in the 200 Breast, taking nearly a second off his prelim time.
Will Glass, a Midlothian, Virginia, product, earned a fourth-place finish in the 1,650 free at the CAA Meet with a lifetime-best 15:37.35 time in his freshman season.

Twenty-one women return to the Tribe swimming roster
The women finished as runner-up at the 2022-23 CAA Championship. With a second-place finish, the Tribe women posted CAA record times in the 200 medley relay (1:38.53) and 400 medley relay (3:36.15)
Sophomore
Sophia Heilen earned the title of CAA Rookie Swimmer of the Year after her 2022-23 freshman season, sweeping the fly events at the CAA Championships and posting CAA records in both the 100 (52.96) and 200 (1:59.36). She gold-medaled with the 200 and 400 medley relay teams, swimming the butterfly leg, and took home silver in the 200 individual medley.
Among the ten women who earned All-Conference accolades in 2023, Heilen,
Ellie Scherer and
Kat Vanbourgondien, who each took home individual honors, return to the roster. Joining that trio, are

Devin Genderson, who each earned relay medals.

SCOUTING THE BLUE JAYS
Scott Armstrong begins his eighth year as head coach of the Hopkins men's and women's swim teams after arriving to the program in 2016. During his tenure, Hopkins has seen four top-four finishes at the NCAA Championships by the Blue Jay men, including a runner-up finish in 2022.
In 2023, the Blue Jays won three individual national championships and combined for 57 All-America honors at the NCAA Championships. The Blue Jays return women's junior Kristin Cornish, who won National Championships in the 500 free and 1,650 free, and men's senior Kellen Roddy, two-time National Champion in the 1650 Free (2022, 2023).
The Hopkins women placed 11th overall at the 2023 NCAA Championships.
The Blue Jays added six men, including five freshmen and one grad transfer, to their roster for the 2023-24 season. Six freshmen joined the Hopkins' roster on the women's side ahead of the season.
SERIES HISTORY
The Tribe men lead the all-time series over the Blue Jays, 4-2. Dropping the most recent two meetings, W&M was a perfect 4-0 in the first four years facing Hopkins, taking two home wins and two neutral site wins from 2016-2019. Most recently, the teams met in Williamsburg in 2022, as the Blue Jays men picked up their second win in the series.
Last year, the women's team secured a 189.5-71.5 victory over the Blue Jays in their home opener, beating Hopkins for the second consecutive year and extending their series lead to 5-1.
This date in history: On Oct. 7, 2017, the Tribe hosted Hopkins in Williamsburg, as the men earned a commanding 194-68 win over the Blue Jays and the women took a 162-100 victory.
