LYNCHBURG, Va. – For the fourth time this season, senior
Daniel Layton has set a William & Mary indoor track & field school record. This time, it came on Friday, the second day of competition at Liberty University's 3
rd Annual Brant Tolsma Invitational, as Layton placed fourth in the heptathlon with 4,967 points. The previous record was 4,872 points set by Alex Hedrick at the 2016 IC4A Championships. Layton also topped his own record in the heptathlon 60m hurdles.
At the Navy Invitational in December, Layton broke the school record for the 60m hurdles twice in a single day.
Heptathlon
Daniel Layton placed fourth with a school-record 4,967 points. His performance was highlighted by an 8.42 finish in the 60m hurdles, breaking his own school record in the discipline. Layton previously ran an 8.59 at the JDL Multi Meet in February 2022.
Cole Harris also had a solid performance in the event, placing 11
th with 4,011 points.

Luke Ellwood claimed the top spot in the event, crossing the finish line in 8:30.30.
Nate Jennings and
Harrison Vives weren't far behind, with fifth (8:44.98) and sixth (8:47.12) place finishes, respectively.
