RICHMOND, Va. — William & Mary freshmen Amelia Bawcombe and Uriah Harris swept the 2026 Coastal Athletic Association Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Year awards, the league office announced Thursday.

Bawcombe enjoyed one of the finest freshman seasons in program history, winning the CAA hammer throw title with a school freshman-record mark of 62.26m (204-3). The Alexandria, Va., native reset the William & Mary freshman record in the event five times during the outdoor season and finished the year ranked No. 2 on the Tribe's all-time performers list and No. 3 on the program's all-time performances list.

Bawcombe qualified for the NCAA Division I East First Round, where she placed 16th in the hammer throw with a mark of 60.98m (200-1). She closed the season with a fifth-place finish at the USATF U20 Outdoor Championships after recording a throw of 59.82m (196-3).

In addition to her success in the hammer throw, Bawcombe posted a personal-best discus mark of 45.17m (148-2) at the Duke Twilight to move to No. 5 on William & Mary's all-time performers list. She finished the season ranked No. 13 among U20 hammer throwers in the world and No. 42 nationally in the event.

Harris turned in one of the top freshman campaigns in school history, winning the CAA shot put title with a mark of 17.66m (57-11.25) after capturing the conference indoor championship in the event earlier this year. He also placed fourth in the discus and 11th in the hammer throw at the CAA Outdoor Championships, scoring 15 points for the Tribe.

The Richmond, Va., native qualified for the NCAA Division I East First Round in both the shot put and discus. He tied the William & Mary school record in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 18.37m (60-3¼) to finish 17th overall and added a 34th-place finish in the discus with a mark of 52.86m (173-5).

Harris earned CAA Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors three times during the outdoor season and reset the William & Mary freshman records in both the shot put and discus. He finished the year tied for first on the program's all-time performers and performances lists in the shot put and ranked third all-time in the discus after posting a freshman-record throw of 55.83m (183-2) at the Phoenix Invitational.
