WILLIAMSBURG,VA.- Tribe swimming's
Missy Cundiff and
Annie Tuttle have earned Individual Scholar All-American honors as announced by the CSCAA Thursday afternoon. All-Americans are recognized as students who achieved a GPA of 3.50 or higher and were invited to compete at their respective national championship.
The honor is the third straight for Cundiff, and the second in as many seasons for Tuttle. Both swimmers brought home individual gold medals and helped set a 200 medley relay meet record for the Tribe, helping William & Mary to a first place finish at the CAA Championships last February.
Cundiff, an Accounting major, put together one of the most impressive seasons in William & Mary history, breaking the CAA's 50 free record with a time of 21.98 at the West Virginia Invitational. The Virginia native set pool records in the 50 throughout the season before claiming a first place finish in the event with a CAA Championship record time of 22.26. Cundiff capped off her incredible William & Mary career swimming a 22.05 time at the NCAA Championships, finishing 17th overall.
Tuttle, a Kinesiology major, dominated the breaststroke events throughout the season, sweeping the events in each of the first three dual meets of the year. She then swam a lifetime best mark of 2:13.36 in the 200 breaststroke at the West Virginia Invitational to qualify for the NCAA B cut. Tuttle continued to impress, winning the 200 breast at the CAA Championships and bringing in a silver medal in the 100 breast.
