EUGENE, Ore. – Freshman
Arianna DeBoer and
Emily Ervin represented the William & Mary women's track and field team this past weekend at the USATF U20 Outdoor Championships at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field.
DeBoer placed sixth overall in the 5,000 meters. With a time of 17:03.87, the rookie managed to shave nearly three seconds off her in-season best set at the Colonial Relays. The first-year distance runner ends an impressive campaign with a first-place finish in the 3,000 meters at the Dan Stimson Memorial Invitational and additionally four top 10 finishes.
Ervin competed in the 400 meters, where she finished fifth in the first round with a time of 55.18. The Overland Park, Kan., native ends an outstanding rookie campaign as the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Rookie of the Year, the first Tribe student-athlete to garner the award since 2013 and only fifth in program history.
Ervin earned All-CAA honors in three events at the CAA Championships, placing third in the 200m and 400m, plus helping lead the Tribe to a second-place finish as anchor in the 4x400m relay. The rookie ranked second in the CAA with her season-best mark in the 200m and third in the 400m, while William & Mary's 4x400m relay team was the fastest in the conference. Additionally, Ervin set William & Mary program records in each respective event, running 23.92 in the 200m, 54.69 in the 400m, and anchored a 4x400m relay squad that ran 3:40.07.
