RICHMOND, Va. – William & Mary will be the No. 2 seed in the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Tennis Championship. The event is scheduled for Friday, April 29, through Sunday, May 1, in Elon, N.C. at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
 
The Tribe is the No. 2 seed for the third time and first since 2010. W&M opens the competition against No. 7 Towson on Friday, April 29, in the quarterfinals at 1 p.m. Admission is free to all matches at the CAA Women's Tennis Championship.
 
W&M enters the CAA Championship having won four in a row and sits at 10-8 on the year. The Green and Gold is 5-1 in league action with wins over No. 3 seed Delaware, No. 4 seed Elon and No. 7 seed Towson during its recent win streak.

The Tribe has a long history of dominating CAA competition, and more importantly the CAA Championship. The Tribe has won 26 of the CAA's 36 all-time women's tennis championships and finished as the runner up on seven other occasions.
 
Since the league adopted its current, head-to-head team format for the CAA Championship in 1995, the Green and Gold is 63-9 (.875) at the event. Overall since the first season of CAA tennis, the Tribe is 151-23 (.868) all-time versus league opponents. In matches with current CAA teams, the Green and Gold owns a 48-5 (.906) all-time record.

Charleston (18-6) is the top seed in the CAA Championship followed the Tribe. Delaware (18-5) is the No. 3 seed followed by Elon (15-8), UNCW (12-6), Drexel (6-12), Towson (9-12) and Hofstra (4-11). The top-seeded Cougars and Hofstra kick of the championship with an 11 a.m. quarterfinal on Friday with UNCW and Elon both meeting at 10 a.m. as well. W&M and Towson square off at 1 p.m., while Delaware and Drexel face each other in the same time slot.

The semifinals of the CAA Championship are set for Saturday, April 30, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The title match is slated for 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 1.
