WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary women's tennis dropped a narrow 4–3 decision to Charlotte on Saturday at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.
The loss moves the Tribe to 12–4 on the season, while the 49ers improve to 17–3 overall.
Charlotte claimed the doubles point by winning at No. 1 and No. 2. Sia Chaudry and Francesca Davis fell 6–3 at the top spot, while the duo of Alexia Gonzalez-Galino and Mira Kernagis dropped a 6–2 decision at No. 2. William & Mary picked up a win at No. 3 doubles, where Emma Pell and Yaelle Vaissaud earned a 6–2 victory.
In singles play, the Tribe battled back with three hard-fought wins but came up just short.
Francesca Davis rallied for a three-set victory at No. 3 singles, winning 1–6, 6–4, 6–2. Mira Kernagis added another comeback win at No. 4, outlasting her opponent 6–4, 3–6, 7–5, and Rebeka Svabikova followed with a 6–4, 1–6, 7–5 victory at No. 5.
Charlotte secured the match with wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 singles. The clincher came at No. 2, where Tilda Larsson dropped a three-set battle, 6–3, 6–7 (5), 6–1.
