WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary women's tennis dropped a 4–3 decision to Liberty on Sunday afternoon at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center on Senior Day.
The loss moves the Tribe to 12–5 on the season, while the Flames improve to 12–6 overall.
William & Mary opened the match by claiming the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3. Sia Chaudry and Francesca Davis earned a 6–3 win at the top spot, while Emma Pell and Yaelle Vaissaud followed with a 6–2 victory at No. 3. The No. 2 doubles match featuring Alexia Gonzalez-Galino and Mira Kernagis went unfinished with the Tribe leading 5–3.
In singles play, William & Mary built a 3–0 advantage behind straight-set wins on courts two and five. Tilda Larsson cruised to a 6–3, 6–2 victory at No. 2, while Rebeka Svabikova battled to a 7–6, 7–6 win at No. 5.
Liberty responded by taking the final four singles matches to secure the comeback victory. The Flames picked up wins at No. 1, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6, including three-set decisions on courts three, four and six.
The clinching point came at No. 3 singles, where Maria Turchetto rallied for a 1-6, 7-5, 6–2 win over Francesca Davis.
