WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary women's tennis dropped a 4–3 decision to Elon on Friday at the Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West Courts.
The loss moves the Tribe to 12–6 on the season, while the Phoenix improve to 13–3 overall.
William & Mary opened the match by dropping the doubles point, as Elon earned wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Sia Chaudry and Francesca Davis fell 6–4 at the top spot, while Tilda Larsson and Yaelle Vaissaud dropped a 6–3 decision at No. 3. The Tribe picked up a win at No. 2 doubles, where Alexia Gonzalez-Galino and Mira Kernagis cruised to a 6–1 victory.
In singles play, William & Mary battled back with three victories to keep the match tight. Francesca Davis earned a 6–1, 7–5 win at No. 2, while Alexia Gonzalez-Galino posted a 6–1, 7–5 victory at No. 6. Rebeka Svabikova added a point at No. 5, rallying for a 7–6 (7–1), 5–7, 6–4 win in a three-set battle.
Elon secured the match by winning three singles courts, including the clincher at No. 4. Mira Kernagis dropped a tightly contested three-set match, 6–7 (5–7), 6–1, 6–7 (5–7), to seal the Phoenix victory. Elon also earned wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles.
