GREENVILLE, N.C. — William & Mary women's tennis extended its winning streak to five matches with a dominant 6–1 victory over East Carolina on Sunday at the River Birch Tennis Complex.
The win improves the Tribe to 12–3 overall, while the Pirates fall to 3–5 on the season.
William & Mary set the tone early by securing the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Alexia Gonzalez-Galino and Mira Kernagis earned a 6–2 victory at No. 2, while Emma Pell and Yaelle Vaissaud followed with a dominant 6–1 win at No. 3 to clinch the point.
In singles play, the Tribe delivered a strong response, winning five of the six matches to seal the team victory.
Sia Chaudry rallied from a set down to claim a 1–6, 6–0, 6–3 win at No. 1 singles, while Francesca Davis also battled back for a three-set victory at No. 2, 4–6, 6–3, 6–4. Kernagis continued her strong season with a straight-set 7–5, 6–1 win at No. 3, and Rebeka Svabikova added a 7–5, 6–2 victory at No. 4.
Gonzalez-Galino capped the Tribe's singles success with a 6–2, 7–5 win at No. 5. East Carolina's lone point came at No. 6 singles.
The victory continues a standout stretch for William & Mary, which has now won five consecutive matches and remains unbeaten in conference play. Individually, Davis has been a key contributor, improving to 21–4 overall and 12–2 in dual matches this season, while Kernagis moves to 18–6 overall and 11–2 in dual play.
