Lax to Host ODU on Wednesday

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary lacrosse team will play its second of four consecutive home games when it hosts Old Dominion at Martin Family Stadium on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

A Look at the Tribe
W&M currently owns a 1-2 record with a season-opening victory at Villanova and a pair of setbacks to then-No. 6 Duke and Richmond. Senior Belle Martire leads the Tribe with 11 points (8g, 3a) and eight draw controls, while sophomore Caroline Hertzberg has totaled four caused turnovers and eight draw controls. Freshman goalie Elise Palmer is averaging 13.3 saves per game.
 
A Look at the Monarchs
ODU enters Wednesday's contest with a 1-2 record after defeating Radford and losing to Richmond and VCU. Lilly Siskind leads the Monarchs with 18 points (13g, 5a), while Corrine Stratton (5g, 1a) and Maddie Mullenbach (3g, 3a) have totaled six points apiece. Caroline Shaefer leads the team with 12 draw controls, while goalie Jenna Peccia is averaging 10.7 saves per game.

W&M-ODU All-Time Series
W&M owns a commanding 38-12 advantage in the all-time series and has won 11 of the last 14 contests. 
 
Last Meeting vs ODU
Belle Martire nearly equaled her own single-game school record and scored a game-high eight goals to lead W&M to a 19-11 victory at ODU last season. Although the contest was tied at 7-7 late in the first half, W&M closed the opening stanza with a 3-0 run and then pulled away down the stretch by scoring seven of the contest's final nine goals.
 
Versus the American Athletic Conference
W&M owns a 39-16 all-time record versus teams currently in the American Athletic Conference. W&M controls the all-time series against Old Dominion (38-12), while it has also squared off against Temple (1-2), Florida (0-1) and Vanderbilt (0-1). The Tribe has never played Cincinnati or East Carolina.
 
CAA Weekly Honors
A trio of W&M standouts have garnered weekly honors from the CAA this season. Senior Lauren Russell was honored as the league's player of the week on Feb. 14, while freshmen Serena Jacobs (Feb. 14) and Ainsley Huizenga (Feb. 21) were named rookie of the week.
 
Four Straight Home Games
After opening the season with back-to-back road games, Wednesday's contest will mark the second of four consecutive home games for the Tribe. W&M fell to Duke on Feb. 18, while its other upcoming home contests include Old Dominion (Feb. 23), Maryland (Mar. 5) and American (Mar. 11).
 
Among W&M's All-Time Best
One of the most productive attackers in school history, Belle Martire currently among the top 20 in school history in career goals (120) and points (140). She currently ranks seventh in goals and tied for 14th in points.
 
Starr Howard also ranks among the Tribe's best in draw controls and ranks eighth all-time with 102. She needs seven more to move into a tie for seventh with Morgan Lang (2003-06), who finished her career with 109 DC.
 
Captains
W&M is led by a quintet of captains this season – Belle Martire, Sabrina Schrader, Grace Ahonen, Lauren Russell and Caroline Donovan. All five captains have distinguished themselves as outstanding leaders both on and off the field throughout their careers.
