WILLIAMSBURG, VA. - William & Mary women's swimming won 12 of 14 events in a 189.5-71.5 win over Johns Hopkins Saturday afternoon at the Bee McLeod Rec Center.
The Tribe women had a hot start as
Kat Vanbourgondien,
Annie Tuttle,
Sophia Heilen, and
Katie Stevenson took first place with a time of 1:44.53 in the 200 medley relay.
In the next race,
Elizabeth Intihar,
Kelsey Katt, and
Devin Genderson took the top three spots in a clean sweep for the Green and Gold. Intihar's 10:20.57 was a full 10 seconds faster than the competition.
Stevenson picked up her first individual win with a time of 1:52.71 in the women's 200 free before Vanbourgondien,
Caroline Burgeson, and
Sarah Rice took the top three times in the 100 back.
Tuttle continued her dominant senior season taking first in the 100 breast stroke with a time of 1:05.50 just ahead of
Ellie Scherer as the Tribe took the two top times. Heilen scorched the competition in the 200 fly with a 2:02.98 finish, just off the Tribe dual meet record. Lauren Klienfelter and
Grace Tramack provided second and third place finishes to further the William & Mary lead.
Sydney Querner turned in the second place time in the 50 free and Stevenson took her second first place of the day with a 51.71 time in the 100 free. Vanbourgondien took her second individual win of the afternoon with a time of 2:06.73 in the 200 fly.
Tuttle swam a first place time of 2:23.91 in the 200 breast stroke and Scherer was right behind tying for second. Intihar took her second individual victory of the day with a 5:03.10 time to place first in the 500 free as Genderson brought in second.
Heilen was just .20 off a dual meet record with a 55.56 time in a first place finish in the 100 fly, while Klienfelter added a second place finish. After the second break, Scherer gave the Tribe a victory in the 200 IM while
Grace Tramack finished second.
Stevenson, Querner, Burgeson, and Lamoureux capped off a tremendous meet by taking first place in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:35.68.
The Tribe will be on the road next weekend for a pair of meets in Maryland. The Green and Gold will face Loyola on Friday evening before visiting CAA rival Towson at noon on Saturday.
