RICHMOND, Va. – William & Mary junior
Mila Saric was named the Most Outstanding Performer of the 2021 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Tennis Championship by vote of the league coaches, the CAA announced on Monday.
Saric was dominant at the top singles position, leading the Tribe to the CAA Championship match. She went 3-0 and did not drop a set at the No. 1 position over the championship weekend. Saric became the 10th Tribe player on the 13th occasion to earn the MOP honor.
In the quarterfinals, Saric was the first singles match off the court, increasing W&M's lead to 2-0 over UNCW thanks to a 6-3, 6-2 win over
Charlotte Madson. A day later, she was again the first match to finish, rolling to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Elon's Victoria Saldh to give W&M a 2-0 lead. In the championship match, Saric avenged a regular-season, three-set setback to JMU's Daria Afanasyeva, dropping just four games in a 6-1, 6-3 triumph.
Saric closed out the year winning her final eight matches in singles play. She finished the season an impressive 11-2 at the top singles position.
