WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary women's gymnastics team posted its best score of the season but fell to North Carolina, 194.875-190.850, on Senior Day at Kaplan Arena on Saturday afternoon.
In addition to posting its best team score of the year, W&M also recorded season highs on bars and beam.
The meet marked the final home competition for the Tribe's senior class, which includes:
Mary Graceyn Gordon,
Hailey Haycox,
Katie Waldman and
Lauren Winkler.
Event Highlights
Vault, 48.125 – Waldman and Gordon led the Tribe on vault with a pair of 9.675's and tied for fourth.
Bars, 46.200 – Led by Waldman's 9.725 on bars, W&M posted its best score of the season in the event.
Beam, 48.375 –
Grace Costello placed third on beam with a career-high 9.750 and helped the Tribe earn a season-high score in the event.
Floor, 48.150 – Gordon, Costello and
Chloe Campbell all tied for third on floor with a 9.750, as the score represented a career high for all three gymnasts.
All-Around – Gordon led W&M with a third-place finish in all-around (38.725), while
Katie Waldman (38.150) and
Grace Costello (37.050) also competed in all four events.
