WILLIAMSBURG, VA.- Fresh off a five-set win over Elon last Sunday, the William & Mary volleyball team is hitting the road this week for the first of two consecutive road trips to end the 2021 regular season. The Tribe will head to UNCW for matchups with the Seahawks on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

Julia Brown was named CAA Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. It is the third time Brown has been honored with the award and the second time this season. The Illinois native had 31 kills over eight sets last weekend including 21 (tying a career high) in a win over Elon last Sunday afternoon. She hit .529 over the course of the eight sets.
This season, Julia is averaging 3.25 kills per set and her .338 hitting percentage is fourth best in the CAA. Brown ranks fourth in Tribe history in total kills and second in total blocks.
The Tribe has a 19-16 advantage in the all-time rivalry with UNCW. Last spring, UNCW took a pair of five-set matches in Williamsburg. Over the two matches,
Anna Porter recorded 51 digs,
Lauren Merrill had 32 kills, and
Julia Brown slammed 35 kills in the pair of losses.
Senior outside
Lauren Merrill produced 23 total kills over two matches last weekend including 14- just one shy of her 2021 high mark on Saturday night. On Sunday, Merrill recorded a season-high 13 digs to go with nine kills to just miss her first double-double of the season.
On Sunday,
Kaitlyn Ferguson had her best match of 2021 as the opposite side hitter recorded a career-best nine kills on a .263 hitting percentage. Ferguson was active defensively, producing a season-high five blocks in the match, just one shy of her career mark.
Amy Schwem had 74 assists last weekend over eight sets of play. The true freshman dished out 46 assists in the Tribe's Sunday win, just one shy of her season-high. Schwem added 11 digs in the contest to record her team-high fourth double-double of the season.
On Sunday,
Maddie Meyers smashed 14 kills, her second highest output this season on 39 attack attempts. In addition, junior
Anna Porter produced a career-high tying eight assists in the contest, tying her high mark set in the spring against UNCW. Porter also dug 18 attack attempts- her second highest mark of 2021.
In the Tribe's last outing,
Amy Schwem hit the 100 dig mark in her freshman season. The setter has exactly 100 digs on the year. On Sunday, Meyers reached the 100 career kill milestone and currently has 109 in her two years on campus.
Anna Porter has 672 career digs and moved into eighth in Tribe history under the current scoring format last weekend. Porter needs just 31 digs to break into seventh in the William & Mary record books.
With five blocks last weekend,
Lauren Merrill moved into 13th in Tribe history with 109 blocks in her storied career.
Kaitlyn Ferguson played her 100th career set last Saturday and recorded her 100th career kill Sunday afternoon.
Anna Porter and
Julia Brown have both played every single set for the Tribe this season.
