Tribe Takes Down Norfolk State in Straight Sets

NORFOLK, Va. — William & Mary secured its second straight sweep on Tuesday night at Gill Gymnasium, taking down Norfolk State 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 27-25).

The Tribe totaled 44 kills and hit a season-high .340 while holding the Spartans to a .146 hitting percentage.

The Tribe answered NSU's opening point with six straight in the first set, using an Emily McKee ace, three Teagan Pocius kills set by Cate Hatfield and a Hatfield kill to move in front 6-1.

The Spartans cut the score to 13-11, but W&M continued to side out and later got kills from Katherine Arnason, Audrey Brcka and Olivia Westfort. A Westfort block on the final point closed a 25-17 set win for the Green and Gold.

W&M turned a 5-5 second-set score into an 11-5 lead with a six-point run, with Arnason adding two kills, McKee serving an ace and  Brcka adding a kill during the stretch.

Hatfield helped keep the offense moving with assists on kills by Arnason, Brcka, Pocius and Westfort as the Tribe maintained control. The Green and Gold closed the set at 25-16 on Hatfield's kill from Avery Horejsi.

The Tribe erased a 19-16 deficit in the third set, using kills from Brcka and Westfort around an NSU attack error to move in front 20-19.
