WILLIAMSBURG, VA.- William & Mary swimming will head to UNCW this weekend for a two-day CAA pod meet. The Tribe will be joined by the host Seahawks as well as Delaware and James Madison which only has a women's team.
The pod meet will take place over Saturday and Sunday and be completed in three parts. Saturday's morning session will feature the 200 free relay, the 200 individual medley, the 50 free, 1650 free, and the 400 medley relay.
After a diving session, swimmers will be back in the pool for the 200 medley relay, the 400 individual medley, the 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breaststroke, and the 100 back. The afternoon session will be broadcast live on FloSports.
Competition will end Sunday morning with the 500 free, the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, the 200 fly, and finally the 400 free.
Scouting the Tribe Women:
William & Mary is out to a hot start winning all three dual meets early in the 2021-22 season.
Missy Cundiff has been outstanding, setting a new pool record in the 50 free in each of the first three meets.
Elizabeth Intihar and
Grace Tramack have both been impressive winning distance freestyle events, while
Annie Tuttle has dominated the breaststroke events. Tuttle and Intihar both have a first place finish in the 200 individual medley over the past two weeks.
Anna Kenna has been versatile winning the 100 and 200 backstroke events and the 100 free over the past two weekends.
Scouting the Tribe Men:
The Tribe is coming off a thrilling win over UMBC last weekend that was highlighted by a strong outing from freshman
Micah Lowe. Lowe led off the Green and Gold's meet-opening medley relay team before sweeping both backstroke events.
Cole Younger won two individual events in last week's win, edging out teammates
John O'Hara in the 100 breaststroke and Conor Sokolosky 200 breast. Younger and Sokolowsky would also finish first and second in the individual medley.
Graham Hertweck has been the Tribe's best sprinter winning the 50 free in back to back weekends and
Noah Fields took home first place in last week's 100 fly.
Scouting the competition:
James Madison's women's team has opened the season 0-2 with a pair of close losses at Towson and Duquesne. Delaware's men and women are both 3-0 on the year with wins over Johns Hopkins, UMBC, and George Mason, while UNCW's women have a 1-5 record with a win over Army. The Seahawk men are 2-2 on the season defeating West Point and winning against Boston College last weekend.
