RICHMOND, Va. – William & Mary freshman Pyper Friedman was named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday. Friedman garnered the honor after helping the Tribe to a 2-0 start in league play.
 
On Friday night in the CAA opener against Hofstra, Friedman provided the decisive blow. With the shootout even a two, the Tribe midfielder converted the winning try thanks to a spin move and finish into the right-side boards, beating Hofstra goalkeeper Merlijn van der Vegt.
 
In Sunday's 4-3 win over Northeastern, Friedman scored her first collegiate goal in the first quarter, pushing across a rebound off a penalty corner to give the Tribe a 1-0 lead.
 
Friedman and the Tribe return to action with a pair of road matches this weekend. W&M travels to instate rival Richmond on Friday, Oct. 8, at 6 p.m., before heading to Towson on Sunday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m.
