WILLIAMSBURG, VA.- William & Mary swimming will be back in action this Saturday for a dual meet with UMBC. The Tribe and Retrievers will get things started at 2:00 p.m. at the Rec Center in Williamsburg.
The Green and Gold will welcome in a UMBC team that has swam in a trio of meets so far in 2021. The Retrievers men are looking for their first win of the season, coming off a loss last weekend at the Naval Academy. The UMBC women's side is 1-2 entering the weekend with a win at Johns Hopkins, but also fell at Navy last Saturday.
Scouting the Tribe Women:
The William & Mary women's swim team is a perfect 2-0 through a pair of meets this season defeating Johns Hopkins and Towson.
Missy Cundiff has been named the CAA Swimmer of the Week in back to back occurrences after breaking a pool record in the 50 free in each of the first two meets of the season.
Anna Kenna has swept both backstroke events in each of the first two contests this year.
Annie Tuttle has been dominant taking first place in both breaststroke events this year and the junior was first to the finish in last week's individual medley.
Elizabeth Intihar has a pair of individual wins on the season taking first place in both distance events in the season opening win at Johns Hopkins, and
Katie Stevenson won the 100 free last weekend in the victory over Towson.
Scouting the Tribe Men:
The William & Mary men are looking for the first win of the season entering the third meet of the year. Last Saturday the Tribe scored 89 points in a tight loss to Towson but saw tremendous individual efforts from a pair of swimmers.
Graham Hertweck placed first swimming a brisk 20.86 in the 50 free and
Micah Lowe swam a 1:52.71 to touch out the opposition in the 200 backstroke. Lowe was just six tenths of a second from sweeping the backstroke competitions, clocking in at 51.70 in the 100 for second place.
