Swimming Back At Home Saturday, Welcoming Towson

WILLIAMSBURG, VA.- William & Mary men's and women's swimming will splash into the pool at the Campus Recreation Center this Saturday for a home-opening meet against Towson. The Tribe and Tigers will begin the dual meet at 1:00 p.m.
 
Scouting the Tribe women: The Green and Gold will be looking for a second straight win after defeating Johns Hopkins in the opening meet of the season last Saturday by a score of 172-90. Missy Cundiff was named Tribe Student-Athlete of the Week and CAA Swimmer of the Week after taking home four first place finishes including a new pool record in the 50 free. Elizabeth Intihar won the 500 and 1,000 freestyle events while Annie Tuttle and Anna Kenna would sweep the breaststroke and backstroke respectively. Overall, the Tribe won 12 of the 14 events in the win over the Blue Jays. 
 
 Towson has had the Tribe's number on the women's side winning 13 of the 18 dual meets between the teams. The last head to head matchup saw the Tigers win 169-125 over the Tribe on October 26, 2019. The Green and Gold has bested Towson in the past two meets in Williamsburg. 
 
Scouting Towson's women: The Tigers have a 2-1 record and are coming off a win last Friday against Johns Hopkins. Towson defeated the Blue Jays 211-83 in Annapolis last weekend, and lost at the same meet 170-122 to Navy. The team opened up the season with a 157-143 close win against James Madison. 
 
Scouting the Tribe men: The William & Mary men's team will be looking to bounce back from an opening-meet setback at Johns Hopkins last weekend. In the defeat, Micah Lowe stood out with a second place finish in both the 100 and 200 back events. Graham Hertweck finished second in both freestyle sprints and Noah Fields was third in the 100 and 200 fly events. As a team, the Tribe placed second in the 400 free relay. 
 
The Tribe has had a strong showing historically against Towson winning 17 meets and losing just six. The Green and Gold has taken the last five meetings with the Tigers and have a six-meet home winning streak with Towson. 
 
Scouting Towson's men
: The Tigers are looking for their first win of the season, dropping a pair of meets in Annapolis last weekend. The Naval Academy defeated Towson 191-107 and Johns Hopkins just edged out the Tigers 144-143.
