WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Senior swimmer
Missy Cundiff was selected as the William & Mary Student-Athlete of the Week presented by the Virginia Lottery for 2021-22 on Tuesday.
Cundiff won all four events that she competed in, leading the Tribe to a 172-90 season-opening win over Johns Hopkins last Saturday in Baltimore. The sprinter's day was highlighted by setting a pool record and blowing away the competition with a 23.24 time in the 50 yard freestyle.
Cundiff swept the freestyle sprints taking the 100 with a time of 52.60. The Leesburg native swam the anchor leg of the 200 medley relay pushing the Tribe to a winning time of 1:45.46 and ended the day helping the 400 freestyle relay team take first place with a 3:31.65 time.
Cundiff was voted as this week's award winner by the William & Mary fanbase via social media on polls on both the @TribeAthletics Twitter and Instagram accounts. Men's soccer's Diba Nwegbo, women's soccer's Zoe Doughty, and men's cross country's Jacob Jones.
