WASHINGTON, D.C. – Katie Waldman set a school record on bars and the William & Mary women's gymnastics team posted the sixth-best overall team score in school history to highlight a tremendous performance at a five-team meet hosted by George Washington on Sunday afternoon.
George Washington claimed the team title with a 195.825 and was followed by Towson (195.625), Maryland (195.300), W&M (194.725) and Yale (193.300).
Waldman's school-record score of 9.925 on bars highlighted a number of outstanding individual efforts by Tribe gymnasts, as
Erika Marr tied for first on vault with a career-high 9.875, which ranks tied for fourth in school history.
In addition to posting a season-high team total, which ranks sixth all-time, W&M also tied the program's fourth-best score on bars (48.950) and the seventh-best mark on vault (48.725).
Event Highlights
Vault, 48.725 – Marr highlighted the Tribe's efforts on vault, as she tied for the individual title with a career-best 9.875, which ranks tied for fourth in school history.
Mary Graceyn Gordon and Waldman also contributed to the outstanding team score, which ranks tied for seventh in school history, with a pair of 9.775's.
Bars, 48.950 – Led by Waldman's school-record 9.925, W&M tied the fourth-best score in school history on bars. Gordon and
Evan Pakshong also came up big with a 9.800 and a 9.775, respectively. Gordon's score represented a career high.
Beam, 48.375 – W&M earned a season high on beam, as three Tribe gymnasts placed among the top 10.
Brianna Greenlow tied for fifth with a career-high 9.825, while Waldman and Marr tied for eighth with a 9.800.
Floor, 48.675 –
Elizabeth Snoddy and
Caroline Caponi led the way on floor and both earned a 9.775.
All-Around – Waldman placed second in all-around with a season-high 39.175, which ranks tied for fifth in school history, while Greenlow finished fourth with a career-high 38.925. Gordon also competed in all four events and totaled a 38.775.
