The William & Mary women's swimming team finished out the Colonial Athletic Association Championships on Saturday night with three more all-conference awards, and finished second overall. James Madison won its third-straight team title with 716.5 points, while the Tribe scored 626 points for the silver medal and Towson took third with 557 points. This is the program-record fifth year in a row that W&M has finished in the top-two at the CAA Championships.
1,650 Freestyle
Leading the session off was the 1,650 free, and an eighth-place finish for freshman
Elizabeth Intihar (Columbus, Ohio). She swam 17:04.61, and finished one spot ahead of classmate
Grace Tramack (Palo Alo, Calif.) who was ninth in 17:10.58. Tramack split 10:20.84 at the 1,000-yard mark, a collegiate-best time for her and good for 16th all-time at W&M. Senior
Norah Hunt (Stuarts Draft, Va.) wrapped up her career in 10th place at 17:11.64, and freshman
Kim Jogis (Larchmont, N.Y.) was 12th in 17:16.55.
200 Backstroke
In the 200 back, sophomore
Anna Kenna (Chantilly, Va.) swam a lifetime-best 1:59.93 for sixth place, breaking two minutes for the first time.That improvement moved her up to sixth all-time among Tribe athletes. Junior
Tara Tiernan (West Hartford, Conn.) took seventh in 2:00.48, and sophomore
Sonora Baker (Mechanicsville, Va.) was 14th overall with a time of 2:03.31.
100 Freestyle
The 100 free saw sophomore
Missy Cundiff (Leesburg, Va.) swim a lifetime-best 50.51 seconds and place fourth overall, one spot off the podium. Cundiff improved to sixth all-time among W&M athletes. Freshman
Katie Stevenson (Wilton, Conn.) was seventh in 51.02, and sophomore
Inez Olszewski (New York, N.Y.) rounded out the line-up in 52.73 seconds for 12th place overall
200 Breaststroke
The Tribe's first all-conference honor of the night came in the 200 breast, where junior
Megan Bull (Hillsborough, N.J.) broke her own school record and place second overall. Bull timed 2:14.62 in the race, breaking the record of 2:15.25 she set two years ago in this same event. Freshman
Peyton Proffitt (Richmond, Va.) was eighth overall in 2:19.58, and senior
Lauren Freeman (Fairfax Station, Va.) finished her career with a 13th-place time of 2:20.03.
200 Butterfly
The 200 fly saw sophomore
Rebecca Rogers (Richmond, Va.) earn her first podium finish, timing 2:02.39 to take third overall. Sophomore
Gabby Zhang (Ashburn, Va.) was right behind her classmate, stopping the clock in 2:02.87 for fourth place overall, and freshman
Maura Graff (Henrico, Va.) was seventh with a time of 2:04.20. In the consolation finals, senior
Julia Bland (Sea Girt, N.J.) placed 14th overall in 2:06.65, and the freshman Tramack was 16th in 2:09.40.
400 Freestyle Relay
The final event of the night, and of the week, resulted in another silver medal for W&M. Cundiff led-off the Tribe's 4x400m relay in 50.84 seconds, followed by freshman
Katie Stevenson (Wilton, Conn.) who split 51.11. The third leg was Olszewski, and she turned in a race-fast 51.15 split before Kenna took over the anchor and swam 51.13 seconds. Overall, W&M swam 3:23.25, the sixth-fastest time in school history.
