RALEIGH, N.C. – The William & Mary women's gymnastics team posted its best score of the season and placed second at a tri-meet hosted by NC State on Friday evening.
The host Wolfpack claimed the team title with a 196.500 and was followed by W&M (192.975) and Centenary (189.250).
In addition to totaling a season high, W&M earned its top scores of the season in three events – vault (48.375), bars (48.950) and floor (48.525). The impressive bars score ranks tied for fourth in the program's history and marks the second consecutive week in which W&M has recorded a score that ranks among its all-time top 10 in the event.
Katie Waldman highlighted the Tribe's individual performances with a third-place finish in all-around, as she recorded a season-high 39.075.
Event Highlights
Vault, 48.375 – Led by Waldman and
Mary Graceyn Gordon, who tied for fourth with a pair of 9.750's, W&M earned a season-high score on vault. Gordon's impressive effort equaled a career high.
Erika Marr also came up big with a 9.725.
Bars, 48.950 – A number of Tribe gymnasts contributed to the tremendous showing on bars, as
Taylor White recorded a career-high 9.825 and was closely followed by Waldman and
Evan Pakshong, who both earned a 9.800. Marr and Gordon nearly matched those efforts with a 9.775 and a 9.750, respectively. Pakshong's score was a season best, while Gordon's was a career high.
Beam, 47.125 –
Caroline Caponi led the Tribe on beam by equaling a career high with a 9.775 to place fourth, while Waldman posted a 9.725.
Floor, 48.525 – W&M's season high on floor was highlighted by Waldman's season-high 9.800.
Brianna Greenlow and White also contributed to the team total with a pair of 9.700's. The score represented a career high for Greenlow and matched a season best for White.
All-Around – Waldman was the Tribe's top all-arounder and placed fourth with a season-high 39.075, while Gordon (38.525) and Greenlow (38.200) both competed in all four events and recorded career highs.

The Tribe will return to action when it hosts West Chester for its home opener at Kaplan Arena on Sunday at 1 p.m. The meet will be part of a double dual with the W&M men's team, which will host Springfield. Admission to the meet is FREE.
