WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The William & Mary women's soccer team concludes its first three-game road swing as it plays a pair of away matches over Labor Day Weekend. The Tribe heads to in-state foe Liberty on Thursday, Aug. 29, before traveling to BIG 10 rival Northwestern on Sunday, Sept. 1. Kickoffs are slated for 6 p.m. and 2 p.m. EST, respectively.

Scouting the Tribe
William & Mary enters the second week of the season looking to get back into the win column as it concludes its three-game road trip this weekend. Last week, the Tribe topped George Washington (2-0) in the season opener, before falling to No. 15 South Carolina (0-3) on Sunday. Redshirt senior

Katelyn Briguglio has started both games this season for the Tribe. The senior owns a 1.67 goals-against-average, with eight saves, and a shutout. Sophomore
Maisy Fling has also seen action for the Tribe, making a save in her 18 minutes against No. 15 South Carolina.

Scouting the Flames
Liberty comes into Thursday's contest looking for its first win of the season. The Flames opened the season on the road at No. 25 Virginia Tech and No. 9 Virginia being blanked in both contests. LU returns 18 letter wins, including ASUN All-Conference selections Cora Duininck, Madison Ellis, Gabrielle Farrell, and Zoe Gaffney. Melody Jayroe has started both games in goal this season for the Flames. She has made 12 saves.

Scouting the Wildcats
Northwestern looks to get into the win column this weekend as it plays a pair of games as it hosts Central Michigan Thursday, before playing the Tribe on Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats dropped a pair of games against SMU (0-1) and Notre Dame (0-4) last weekend. Northwestern is coming off of a 2018 season where they finished with double-digit wins and made the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive year. The team graduated a memorable senior class that featured three players drafted to the NWSL. Northwestern added ten new student-athletes in the offseason. Mackenzie Wood has started both games in goal for the Wildcats this season, while Cherish Anderson came on in relief against Notre Dame.

Series History vs. Liberty
W&M and Liberty meet for just the third time in program history on Thursday night. The Tribe has won both of the previous two games, including rallying for a 2-1 win a season ago.

Series History vs. Northwestern
The Tribe then plays Northwestern in which will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools. It is the only opponent in 2019 that the Tribe has no previous history against.

What's Ahead
W&M returns home for a pair of games next weekend. The Tribe welcomes High Point to Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field on Thursday, Sept. 5, before hosting Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday, Sept. 8. Kickoffs are set for 7 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.

Segan's Scoring Streak
Dating back to last season, redshirt senior
Sarah Segan has been on a scoring tear. She has recorded points in seven of the last eight games she has seen action. The Fogelsville, Pa. native had five goals in her last seven contests for the Tribe.

Second Half Success
A season ago, W&M made its living on scoring goals in the second half of games (13 of 18). In 2019, that trend seems to be the same as the Green and Gold scored both of its goals this year in the second 45 minutes.

Experienced Lineup
 W&M returns nine starters from last year's team, as well as a handful of starters that made spot starts and played valuable minutes last season. The Tribe also returns 72.2-percent of its goal-scoring, 85.7-percent of its assists, 76-percent of its points, and 88-percent of its minutes played in goal from a season ago.

Segan Tabbed to Preseason All-CAA Team
 Redshirt senior
Sarah Segan was named to the Preseason All-CAA Soccer Team. Segan is the Tribe's returning leading scorer and coming off of a First-Team All-CAA selection in 2018. She finished last year with six goals, four assists, and 16 points starting 16 of the Tribe's 17 matches. For her career, Segan has appeared in 50 matches with 48 starts, scoring 24 goals, 10 assists, and 58 points. The Fogelsville, Pa. native has earned four all-conference postseason honors as she has been named to the All-CAA First-Team, All-CAA Second-Team twice, and picked up an all-rookie nod after her freshman season.

Selected Sixth
 The William & Mary women's soccer team was selected to finish sixth in the Preseason CAA Poll. Defending CAA Tournament Champion Hofstra (78 points, seven first-place votes) were picked to reclaim its title while defending regular-season champ James Madison (74 points, three first-place votes) was tabbed second. Northeastern (third, 67 points), Charleston (fourth, 52), and Drexel (fifth, 47 points) are the teams ahead of the Tribe. Delaware (seventh, 34 points), UNCW (eighth, 32 points), Elon (ninth, 16 points), and Towson (10th, 10 points) round out the preseason poll.

 Three of W&M's freshmen are following in their mother's footsteps as members of the Tribe women's soccer program.
Kayleigh Shackford whose mom, Julie, played from 1984-87 and is the current head coach,

Setting the SlateÂ
 W&M will play an 18-game schedule in the 2019 season. The 18-game slate features five games against 2018 NCAA Tournament teams and seven home games at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field.
