WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary baseball returns to action as it opens its final three-game homestand of the regular season as it welcomes College of Charleston to Plumeri Park this weekend. The series opens on Friday, May 3 at 6 p.m., before continuing Saturday, May 4 at 2 p.m., and concludes Sunday, May 5 at 1 p.m.

W&M News and Notes
- W&M and Charleston meet for the 21st through 23rd all since the Cougars joined the CAA prior to the 2013 season. The Cougars lead the all-time series 14-6, including sweeping the series last year in Charleston. However, the last time the two teams met in Williamsburg, the Tribe swept the series. Matt McDermott led the Tribe going 5-for-11 (.454 batting average) with two runs scored and an RBI. Seniors
Zach Pearson went 4-for-9 and
Hunter Smith hit 3-for-9 with two RBI, while classmate
Jason Waldman drove in four runs.

- Senior
Owen Socher has seemed to have a knack for being hit by a pitch throughout his Tribe career and even more so this season. The senior ranks 20th in the NCAA reaching base by 15 HBPs this season. He currently ranks ninth in single-season school history, while his 30 career HBPs rank him sixth in school history.
- Sophomore
Matt McDermott was on a tear last weekend at Towson. He led the team hitting .583 (7-for-12) with a double and three RBI. For the season, the sophomore is hitting .250 with 11 doubles, a triple, and 28 RBI, the second-most on the team.
- The Tribe has had its most success offensively in the second inning of games this year. W&M has outscored its opponents 44-11 in the second frame.
- W&M stole four bases in the win at George Mason on Tuesday afternoon. The four stolen bases were the second most this season behind five bags swiped against Campbell on March 8. Senior
Zach Pearson tied a career-high with two steals in the game. For the season, W&M has swiped 46 bags.
- Socher has made the most of his recent opportunity, since starting 20 of the last 22 games, The senior is hitting .250 (16-for-56) with five doubles, two triples, a homer, six RBI, and 16 runs scored.
- The Green and Gold played its first extra-inning game of the season on April 20 in the first game against Elon. The Tribe fell in the contest 11-9 in 10 innings in its first extra-inning game since May of 2018. Head coach

- The Tribe had its first walk off of the season in its 2-1 triumph of the season against George Washington Wednesday night at Plumeri. It was the first walk-off for the Tribe since March 18, 2018, against East Tennessee State. The Tribe now has 13 walk-off wins under
Brian Murphy.
- W&M's has played 11 one-run games of the season. The Tribe is 6-5 in those contests this season but fell last Sunday to Towson in its last one-run game.
- Following his complete game against James Madison on April 12, junior
Wade Strain was named the CAA Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 15. The righty allowed one run on three hits with a career-high seven strikeouts. He also retired 16 Dukes in a row from the fourth to the ninth. The award gives W&M five weekly awards as
Matt McDermott has been named the CAA Rookie of the Week and freshmen
Zach Tsakounis (twice) and
Tristan Snyder have been named Rookie of the Week.
- W&M had a pair of double plays in the Saturday win at Towson, making it the 10th time this season the Tribe recorded multiple double plays in a game. For the year, the Tribe pitching staff and defense has turned 36 double plays, which ranks second in the CAA and 23rd nationally.
- Senior
Bodie Sheehan has been one of the Tribe's all-time most consistent pitchers during his career. The senior has turned four of his best starts the last five times out, getting into the seventh inning each time. He has recorded seven quality starts in his 11 starts this season. The Virginia Beach, Va. native has now made 55 starts, which is the school record. He also ranks in the top in W&M school history in wins (10th - 17), innings pitched (fourth - 330.0), strikeouts (ninth - 224), and pick-offs (10th - 6).
- Redshirt junior
Chris Farrell has been one of the sharpest arms out of the Tribe bullpen this season. Farrell owns a 2.74 ERA while throwing 23.0 innings with 33 strikeouts against just 15 walks. The redshirt junior leads the team with four saves.
- On the offensive end, the Tribe is fourth in the CAA with 253 runs scored. The team has put at least eight runs on the scoreboard in 12 games, going 10-2. W&M ranks 62nd in the NCAA with 82 doubles, while its 18 triples are good for 11th in the NCAA.
- Senior
Hunter Smith became the 20th player in school history to record 200 career hits in the doubleheader on Saturday against Elon. The senior ranks second in the CAA with 11 homers, while his 27 career bombs are good for ninth in W&M history.
- Classmate
Zach Pearson is enjoying a strong close to his Tribe career. He leads the team and ranks seventh in the CAA with a .318 batting average this year. The senior also leads the team in multi-hit games with 15, including the only two-hits at Richmond on Wednesday. Pearson has added 12 doubles, two triples, a homer, and 27 RBI.
- Plumeri Park, the home of the Tribe Baseball, turns 20 this spring. The anniversary will be celebrated and recognized over the course of the season. The facility was constructed in large part due to the generous donation by Mr. Joseph J. Plumeri II in the autumn of 1996. It is now considered one of the finest baseball facilities in the region, consistently receiving upgrades over the course of time. W&M has enjoyed a lot of success at Plumeri Park with a 391-207 (.654) since its completion.
