ITHACA, N.Y. – The William & Mary women's gymnastics team concluded the team portion of its season with a sixth-place finish at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship hosted by Cornell on Saturday afternoon.
 
Temple claimed the title with a 194.750 and was followed by Yale (194.400), Penn (193.925), Cornell (193.300), Brown (192.225) and W&M (192.025).
 
The Tribe's best effort came on floor where it posted the meet's third-best score with a 48.550.
 
Highlighting W&M's individual efforts were three gymnasts who garnered all-conference honors by finishing among the league's top six scorers. Samantha Sakti (9.900) and Aaliyah Kerr (9.875) placed second and third, respectively, on floor, while Caroline Caponi finished third in all-around (38.425). Kerr's honor marked the third time in her four seasons that she has earned All-ECAC distinction on floor.
 
Madison Dwyer was also recognized by the league, as she was one of four gymnasts to be selected as a Scholar-Athlete of the Year for her exceptional efforts both in the gym and the classroom. It marked the second consecutive season in which she has garnered the distinction.
 
Event Recaps
Vault, 47.875 – Katie Webber led the Tribe on vault with a 9.675, while Sakti earned a 9.625.
 
Bars, 47.500 – Evan Pakshong garnered a top-10 finish on bars and tied for eighth with a 9.750. Erika Marr also contributed to the team total with a 9.650.
 
Beam, 48.100 – Kerr was W&M's top performer on beam and just missed out on a top-10 finish with a career-high 9.825. Sakti and Caponi also came up big with a 9.775 and a 9.700, respectively.
 
Floor, 48.550 – Sakti (9.900) and Kerr (9.875) led the Tribe on floor by placing second and third, respectively, to garner all-conference honors. Sakti's impressive score ranks tied for sixth in the program's record book, while Kerr's effort marked a season high in the event.
