PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Feb. 17, 2019) – The William & Mary women's gymnastics team posted its second-best score of the season but was edged at Penn, 193.025-192.850, on Sunday afternoon.
 
W&M posted season highs on vault (48.400) and beam (48.725), while it also bettered the Quakers on bars with a 48.225. The impressive beam score ranks tied for seventh in school history.
 
W&M gymnasts claimed individual titles in all four events, as Samantha Sakti won on beam (9.875) and floor (9.900) while Erika Marr (9.800) and Evan Pakshong (9.750) earned top honors on vault and bars, respectively. Both of Sakti's winning scores rank among the program's all-time top-10 lists.
 
Event Highlights
Vault, 48.400 – Marr led the way on vault by equaling a career high (9.800) en route to winning the event. Sakti also came up big by equaling her career high (9.750), while Caroline Caponi posted a season-best 9.725.
 
Bars, 48.225 – Pakshong's winning performance (9.750) highlighted a number of impressive efforts on bars, as Caponi tied for second with a 9.700 while Taylor White and Marr both earned a 9.675.

Beam, 48.725 – Tribe gymnasts claimed the top three spots on beam en route to helping the lineup equal the seventh-best score in school history in the event. Sakti's winning mark of 9.875 established a career high and ranks tied for seventh in school history. Caponi placed second with a career-best 9.775 while Pakshong tied for third with a 9.750.

Floor, 47.500 – Sakti won the floor title with a 9.900, which ranks tied for sixth in school history, while Aaliyah Kerr tied for second with a season-high 9.850. White also contributed to the team total with a 9.800.

All-Around – Caponi was the meet's lone all-around competitor and posted a season-high 38.900.
