CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – William & Mary women's tennis sophomore
Mila Saric continued her strong play at the Kitty Harrison Invitational on Saturday, upsetting a national top-50 opponent in singles action.
Saric topped No. 44-ranked Zoe Spence of Notre Dame in three sets for her first career nationally-ranked win. The Tribe sophomore took the opening set in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (4), before the Fighting Irish player answered with a 6-4 win in the second. In the decisive third set, Saric pulled out a 6-3 triumph to improve her team-leading singles ledger to 8-2.
Junior
Vitoria Okuyama took No. 116-ranked Cameron Corse of Notre Dame to three sets before falling. Okuyama jumped out to a set advantage by taking the first, 6-3. Unfortunately, Corse rallied to win a pair of close sets in the final two, 6-4, 7-5, to pull out the victory.
For the second time in as many days, the duo of Saric and Okuyama picked up a win over an ACC counterpart. The Tribe pair downed NC State's Liz Norman and Lexi Keberle, 8-6.
The Tribe wraps up the fall on Sunday with a round of singles action against Duke at 11 a.m. Playing indoors on Sunday, fans can
