BLACKSBURG, Va. – A trio of William & Mary women's tennis players advanced to the second round of the ITA Atlantic Region Singles Championship on Saturday. Seniors Natalia Perry and Rosie Cheng and sophomore Mila Saric notched first-round wins.  
 
Cheng, who is the No. 16 seed in the tournament, picked up a straight-sets victory over Navy's Meghana Kommaraju, 7-6 (6), 6-0. It was the senior's first win of the fall season and the 49th of her career. Cheng meets Virginia's Camille Favero in the second round on Sunday.
 
Saric also recorded a straight-sets win, topping JMU's Michelle Los Arcos, 6-3, 7-6 (3), to run her team-best singles record to 6-1. The Tribe sophomore will face No. 10 seed Yulia Starodubsteva of Old Dominion on Sunday.
 
Perry rounded out the Tribe victors on Saturday with a three-set win over West Virginia's Sofia Duran, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4. The Tribe senior, who is the event's No. 15 seed, evened her singles ledger at 4-4 and faces Marshall's Anna Smith on Sunday.
 
In doubles action, both Tribe teams picked up wins in their first matches of the tournament on Saturday, before falling in the round of 16. Perry and Saric, who are the No. 15 seed, topped Delaware's JoJo Bach and Caragh Courtney, 8-6 in the second round before falling to the West Virginia pair of Anne-Sophie Courteau and Kat Lyman, 8-5.
 
Senior Charlotte Madson and junior Vitoria Okuyama, who are No. 14 seed, opened up with an 8-6 triumph over the Liberty duo of Kalani Soli and Eloise Saraty. The Tribe tandem suffered its first setback of the season, dropping an 8-2 decision to the No. 4-seeded Virginia team of Rosie Johanson and Natahsa Subhash.
 
The schedule for Sunday includes both the second and third rounds of singles action at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
