Vitoria Okuyama posted a pair of wins on the opening day of the ITA Atlantic Region Championship to advance to the singles main draw.
Okuyama needed three sets to take down Georgetown's Sofie Moenster, 7-5, 6-7 (3), 6-4, in the opening round. She followed with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over VCU's Melissa Ifidzhen to earn a spot in the main draw for the third-straight year. Okuyama improved to 4-1 on the year.

Charlotte Madson opened with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Penn State's Hanna Wikberg for her third win of the season. She claimed the first set from JMU's Natalia Nikolopouou, 6-4, but the Dukes player rallied to advance to the main draw with 6-4, 6-4 victories in the second and third sets.
Saturday kicks off with the second and third rounds of the doubles championship, beginning at 9 a.m. The main singles draw gets underway at approximately 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
