HANOVER, N.H. - The William & Mary women's tennis team turned in a dominant performance at Dartmouth on Sunday afternoon, racing past the reigning Ivy League Champions, 6-1. The Green and Gold (4-3) claimed the doubles point for the second time in this season and won four singles matches in straight sets along with sophomore
Rosie Cheng's second nationally-ranked win of the spring to claim its third-straight victory.
Junior
Lauren Goodman and senior
Cecily Wuenscher blitzed the Big Green (3-3) pair of Allison Chuang and Maddie Hwang, 6-0, at the No. 3 doubles spot to give W&M a leg up on the initial point of the match. Junior
Clara Tanielian and freshman
Vitoria Okuyama continued their strong pairs play, clinching the point with a 6-3 triumph over Kristina Mathis and Racquel Lyn at the second position.
Goodman, who won in both singles and doubles on Sunday, increased the Tribe lead to 2-0 with her fourth-straight singles win. She bounced Dartmouth's Catherine Cable, 6-2, 6-2, at the No. 5 post.
Senior
Ekaterina Stepanova and
Olivia Thaler cemented the Tribe's third win in a row with singles victories. Stepanova posted her second win at the No. 3 slot, topping Lyn, 6-4, 6-3, while Thaler won her third-straight singles tilt at No. 6. She clinched the team triumph with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Chuang.
Sophomore's
Natalia Perry and
Rosie Cheng rounded out the Tribe supremacy with singles victories. Perry posted a 6-2, 6-4 win over Abigail Chiu at No. 4 for her 13th victory of the year. Cheng rallied from a set deficit to record her second nationally-ranked win of the year. After dropping the first set, she rallied past No. 78-ranked Kristina Mathis by taking the second, 7-5, and the third-set super tiebreaker, 10-7.
