William & Mary sophomore Woodard Hooper (Reston, Va.) was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week on Tuesday, after leading the Tribe field hockey team to a top-10 upset and national ranking this week.  This is the first award of the season for W&M, and the first career honor for Hooper.

Last weekend, Hooper scored the only goal in the Tribe's 1-0 upset of No. 7 Michigan, taking a pinpoint pass from senior Cammie Lloyd (Midlothian, Va.) in stride and beating the Michigan goalkeeper head-on to score in the eighth minute.  That was Hooper's third game-winning goal of the season, the best total in the CAA and tied for the national lead with three other players.  Saturday, Hooper added her fourth goal of the year as part of the 4-2 win over UC Davis, tipping in a shot by senior Booter Ellis (Delmar, Del.).  She is tied for the team lead in goals with Lloyd, and is second overall in points with nine (4g, 1a).  In the CAA, Hooper is tied for fifth overall with four goals, and tied for eighth in overall points.  Her three game-winning goals this season are also tied for 16th all-time in school history.  The last time that a Tribe player had four or more game-winning goals in a single year was Gina Cimarelli '07 in 2006, while Cristina Limpens '95 and Lydia Donley '92 shared the record with seven apiece, scored in 1993 and 1991, respectively.

William & Mary, ranked No. 18 in the latest poll, takes on a pair of top-10 foes this weekend.  On Friday night, the Tribe travels up to No. 5 Virginia, before returning home Sunday to face No. 10 Boston College at 2 p.m.
