Lauren Goodman Picks Up CAA Player of the Week Honors

RICHMOND, Va. - William & Mary women's tennis sophomore Lauren Goodman was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday. Goodman received her second career CAA weekly singles honor after starting the dual-match campaign with three-straight wins.

During the Tribe's opening weekend sweep of Richmond and CAA foe Elon, Goodman dominated, dropping just seven total games in two matches. She posted a 6-2, 6-2 win over Brittany Boys in the Tribe's 6-1 win over the Spiders. The Tribe sophomore bounced Maria Paraja, 6-2, 6-1, in W&M's dominating 7-0 win over Elon. Goodman also picked up a pair of doubles wins at the top position with senior Marie Faure, including a 6-3 win over Elon's Natalia Janowicz and Maria Paraja.

This past weekend at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, Goodman posted her third win, downing Tulsa's Mahitha Dadireddy in straight-sets, 6-4, 6-3. In the opening match of the event, she won the first set from No. 34-ranked Chalena Scholl of Duke and led 2-1 in the decisive third before the match was abandoned with the team results already decided. Goodman is 3-0 in dual-match play at No. 3 singles and is 6-5 overall.

Goodman and the Tribe return home for a pair of matches against Big 12 opponents next weekend inside the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. The Green and Gold welcomes West Virginia on Saturday, Feb. 4, for a 1 p.m., match, before hosting Kansas on Sunday, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m.
