The William & Mary women's swimming team sent its seniors off in style Saturday, putting every swimmer in every event ahead of VMI's entrants and winning every event before exhibitions to pull away with a 166-44 win over the Keydets. The Tribe finished the dual meet season at 6-5 overall, and undefeated at home in three of the past four years for the first time since 1974.
Senior
Jaimie Miller (Houston, Texas) led the way as she has for each of the past two years, winning two individual events and a relay. She started the meet anchoring the Tribe's 200 medley relay to victory in 1:46.37, alongside fellow seniors
Selina Fuller (Henrico, Va.),
Allie Christy (Williamsburg, Va.), and
Georgie Crompton (Brooklandville, Md.). She then won the 200 free in 1:52.66, and took the 100 free in 50.65, just shy of both the pool and dual-meet records in the event.
Fuller and Christy also had individual wins on the day. Fuller won the 100 back in 58.76 seconds, and Christy took the 200 breast in 2:21.75. Fellow senior
Sophie Rittenhouse (London, England) won the 200 back going away in 2:03.31, and sophomore
Morgan Smith (Verona, N.J.) took the 1,000 free in 10:33.91.
Claire Williams (Apex, N.C.) stopped the clock in 1:06.57 to win the 100 breast, right before junior
Abby Mack (Wayne, Pa.) won the 200 fly in 2:08 flat. Two more sophomores rounded out the Tribe win total, with
Annie Miller (Houston, Texas) cruising to a 24.15 win in the 50 free, and
Maria Oceguera (New Rochelle, N.Y.) took the laurels in the 500 free in 5:04.48.
With the regular season now complete, the Tribe turns its attention to the year-end meets. Next weekend, select members of the team will compete at the Carolina Invitational, co-hosted by North Carolina and Duke, while the majority of the roster trains for the CAA Championships at the end of February.
