John Daly Receives NSCAA Letter of Commendation

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – William & Mary women's soccer head coach John Daly received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Letter of Commendation on Jan. 13 at the NSCAA Awards Banquet in conjunction with the 70th annual NSCAA Convention in Los Angeles, Calif.

The award is in recognition of a career in soccer filled with service to the game, the NSCAA, the coaching profession, and the development of players. Daly along with Bruce Arena (US Men's National Team Head Coach), Marti Coan (Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association), Mike Coven (Brandeis University), Sigi Schmid (MLS, US Soccer, and UCLA), and Phil Wright (US Club Soccer) received the awards.

Daly just finished his 30th season at the helm of the Tribe women's soccer program. He has led the Tribe to 21 NCAA tournament appearances, including 17 of the past 24 years. He has also helped guide the College to an NCAA-record 36 consecutive winning seasons. Daly has coached the side in 626 matches, amassing a record of 405-166-55 (.691) overall and a mark of 153-41-16 (.767) in the Colonial Athletic Association.

This season, he became the sixth Division I coach and 13th NCAA coach to win his 400th career match with a 2-0 win at UNC Greensboro on Sunday, Sept. 11. W&M joins UConn and James Madison as the only other schools that has had a 400-win coach in both their women's and men's programs. Former men's coach Al Albert won 401 matches in his 33-year career with the Green and Gold.

Aside from his outstanding coaching career with the Tribe he also held leadership roles with the NSCAA. Previously he has served as the NSCAA Senior College Coach of the Year Committee, and the Board of Directors.
