RICHMOND, Va.— William & Mary's
Mia Abbey became the latest Tribe women's soccer player to score a CAA weekly honor, as she was named the conference's Rookie of the Week on Monday.
The honor makes Abbey the third W&M freshman to be named the league's Rookie of the Week in 2025, joining the likes of classmates
Gwen Doughty and
Ellie Leffler.
Abbey, a native of Elmer, N.J., netted the game-winning goal for the Tribe on Sunday against Hampton, with the first of four W&M goals on the day. The freshman had the rebound find its way to her off
Sheridan Brummett's free kick attempt and handled the rest from there in the 17
th minute.
The goal marked the first of her college career as she now has five total points on the season thanks to three assists.
With Sunday's win the Tribe clinched home field for Thursday's CAA quarterfinal against Elon. The match is slated for 7 p.m. with the winner advancing to play UNCW in Sunday's quarterfinal in Wilmington.
