WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (March 16, 2014) – The William and Mary women's gymnastics team closed out its regular season slate with a 193.375 – 189.525 victory against Temple on Senior Day at Kaplan Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Brittany Stover highlighted the Tribe's individual performances by winning the all-around title (38.975), while freshman Olivia O'Connor earned the top score on bars (9.725).
W&M opened the meet on vault and recorded a 48.150, as Stover (9.800) and sophomore Alyssa Glass (9.750) placed second and third, respectively.
The College then claimed the top three spots on bars en route to totaling a 48.275. O'Connor won the event title with a 9.725, while Stover finished second with a 9.700. Glass and freshman Briana Gironda both registered a 9.675 to tie for third.
In the third rotation of the afternoon, W&M totaled a 48.350 on beam. Junior Brandy Stover placed second with a 9.750, while Brittany Stover was third with a 9.725. Senior Larson Lasek also came up big with a 9.700 to tie for fourth.
W&M closed out the meet on floor and earned a season-high 48.600. Glass led the way with a career-best 9.775 to place third, while Brittany Stover was fourth with a 9.750. Lasek (9.725) and senior Lacy Cummings (9.700) also contributed to the team total as both recorded season highs.
While Brittany Stover won the all-around title, W&M gymnasts also claimed the second, third and fourth best scores – Lasek (38.550), O'Connor (38.200) and Gironda (38.125).
The Tribe will return to action next weekend when it competes at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship hosted by Temple.
